Rhinoplasty in İzmir: A Natural Appearance and Healthy Breathing

Rhinoplasty in İzmir is a surgical procedure that creates a natural profile in keeping with the golden proportions of the face while, in the same operation, permanently resolving the breathing obstruction caused by septal deviation and enlarged turbinates. Trained in ENT surgery at Ege University, Op. Dr. İbrahim Korhan has, since 2020, performed closed rhinoplasty that leaves no external scar, piezo ultrasonic surgery and tissue-preserving functional nasal operations at his private clinic in Bayraklı, İzmir.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is not merely a change in appearance; it is a reconstruction of the nasal airway:

Planning to natural proportions: The nasal dorsum, the angle of the tip and the distance between lip and nose are designed through 3D digital analysis, according to each person's facial anatomy and the structure of the chin and forehead.

Restoring function to breathing: During surgery, deviation of the central nasal cartilage is corrected (septoplasty) and enlarged turbinates blocking the airway are reduced with radiofrequency.

Scar-free closed surgery: All incisions are made inside the nostrils, leaving no trace of surgery at the base of the nasal tip (the columella).

Why Rhinoplasty in İzmir with Op. Dr. İbrahim Korhan?

ENT training in the Ege University tradition: A full command of ENT and facial anatomy, allowing aesthetic and breathing problems to be solved at the same time.

Piezo (ultrasonic) technology: A modern approach that shapes bone with sound waves to millimetric precision, sparing vessels and soft tissue and keeping bruising and swelling to a minimum.

A boutique clinic (Bayraklı Lider Centrio): Since 2020, individual attention rather than a standard consultation — including 3D profile simulation and follow-up through the first year after surgery.

Recovery: A Step-by-Step Timeline

Days 1–3: Silicone splints with air channels allow the patient to breathe through the nose. Rest with the head elevated; cold compresses limit swelling.

Day 7: The thermoplastic nasal splint and silicone splints are removed entirely painlessly.

Days 10–14: The protective skin tapes come off; patients can comfortably return to work and social life.

Months 1–3: Some 70–80% of the swelling recedes, and the dorsum and contours of the nose become defined.

Months 6–12: The skin of the nasal tip thins and the anatomy of the nose settles into its final form.

The Rhinoplasty Techniques We Use in İzmir: Open, Closed, Revision and Ultrasonic Surgery

Every patient's skin thickness (thin or thick), cartilage elasticity and bone anatomy are as unique as a fingerprint. Rather than a single surgical approach, we therefore apply techniques tailored to each patient's anatomical needs and aesthetic goals:

  1. Open rhinoplasty: Preferred in cases with marked asymmetry, significant axis deviation of the bone and cartilage framework, or a need for major tissue reconstruction. A small incision at the base of the nasal tip (the columella) gives direct and complete visual command of the nasal skeleton, so that the cartilage structure can be realigned to the millimetre.
  2. Closed rhinoplasty (scar-free and tissue-preserving): Here every surgical step is carried out from inside the nostrils, with no externally visible incision or scar at the base of the tip. Because the skin vessels, lymphatic channels, natural ligaments and nerve endings are preserved, there is no risk of loss of sensation; unlike the pronounced swelling and bruising of open surgery, recovery is quicker and patients can return to social life within about 7 to 10 days.
  3. Revision rhinoplasty (corrective surgery): Advanced surgery for patients who have had one or more previous nasal operations but live with a collapsed dorsum (saddle nose), a drooping tip, marked asymmetry or chronic breathing problems. Where the cartilage remaining inside the nose is insufficient, the nasal framework is rebuilt with autologous cartilage grafts taken from behind the ear (auricular) or from the rib (costal).
  4. Ultrasonic (piezo) surgery: Leaving behind traditional methods such as bone fracture and mechanical rasping, this technology shapes the nasal bones with millimetric precision using high-frequency sound waves. Because it acts on bone alone and does not harm the surrounding vessels, nerves and mucosa, it minimises bruising and swelling after surgery.

Personalised Pre-Operative Planning with AI-Assisted 3D Simulation

To dispel the question that troubles patients most before surgery — "Will my new nose suit my face?" — we support open communication between surgeon and patient with AI-assisted 3D simulation. With our advanced digital planning tools we design your forehead-to-nose and nose-to-lip angles on screen with you, according to the proportions of your face and before you enter the operating room, bringing your expectations and surgical reality onto common ground.

For a rhinoplasty in İzmir that puts your health, comfortable breathing and the unique naturalness of your features first, you may consult Op. Dr. İbrahim Korhan; book an appointment at our clinic in Bayraklı Lider Centrio for a detailed facial analysis, examination and surgical plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does rhinoplasty surgery in İzmir take?

Primary (first-time) closed rhinoplasty operations take an average of 2 to 2.5 hours.

Will the tip of the nose drop after surgery?

Thanks to ligament-preserving, cartilage-supported surgical techniques, the framework of the nasal tip is fixed permanently; no dropping occurs during recovery or in later years.

How are rhinoplasty prices determined?

The cost is determined individually after examination, according to whether the operation is a first procedure or a revision, the degree of deviation, and whether piezo surgery is used.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the shape, size and function of the nose. It not only addresses appearance concerns but also resolves breathing problems.

No. Besides aesthetic concerns it is also performed for breathing problems — septum deviation, enlarged turbinates, concha bullosa and sinusitis can be corrected in the same operation.

In closed rhinoplasty no external incision is made, so no scar remains. In most open rhinoplasty cases no noticeable scar remains either.

No. Instead of the traditional packing that causes discomfort, we use perforated silicone splints. This allows our patients to breathe comfortably right after surgery.

The nose is still swollen when the cast is removed. Swelling reduces significantly by the end of the first month. The final shape settles between 6 months and 2 years depending on skin type and other factors.

At least 12 months should pass after the first operation and the tissue must heal completely. In some cases this period can extend to 18 months.
